Skolepiano [Live in Studio December 2016]

from Pappa Xmas' Box of Avant Delight by Panzerpappa

/

about

Todays track is something special since it is the first recording featuring the new keyboard player in Panzerpappa, Torgeir Sørbye. He played trumpet at the release concert for Pestrottedans in the spring of 2016, but it turned out that he could play the keyboard as well.

Skolepiano is one of the oldest tracks in the Panzer-catalogue dating back to the late 1990s. The original version can be found on the first Panzerapppa release “…passer gullfisk”. It is based on a melody that Trond played around with on the piano at the school he worked at back then, which also gave the track its name, “School Piano”. The first 20 seconds of this year’s recording includes the demo version of the track recorded before “… passer gullfisk”, and then it moves on to the Live in Studio version re-arranged to include the trumpet as well as keyboards and a new sax part. It was recorded in early December 2016 for the Advant Calendar.
